This REL Acoustics Studio III is in excellent condition and sounds amazing. Sub is finished in a beautiful Rosenut and will come with power cord, REL high level connecting cable, and a copy of the owners guide on CDR. I have had the good fortune to hear nearly all the currently available flagship subwoofers and the REL Studio III sets the standard when it comes to musicality. Simply stated, there is no other subwoofer system at any price that can seamlessly blend with your main speakers like the REL Studio III. It adds a dimension to music playback that not only adds the very lowest bass notes but affects the main speakers in the system making them sound more natural. I can only attribute this to the REL's ability to not call any attention to itself and add foundation to the music presentation that allows our brains to be more easily fooled into believing we are listening to a live event. It extends so low and is so fast that it helps recreate the actual space the recording was done in - this expands the soundstage further adding to the illusion of a live event. Once the Studio III is tuned to your system you know it. Even things you would not expect to be effected, sound better - like voice - and with a small change such as the fine tuning in the crossover, even as little as 2 Hz, may be all it takes for this amazing sub to lock in. Again I must restate, only the REL systems have let me hear this level of magic, so if you are willing to spend some time dialing it in the results are amazing. Highlights: REL designs their subs with two separate modes music & movies - High Level driven directly from your main front channel amp and Lo Level from the subwoofer output on your preamp/processor. This combined with the extremly flexible dual gain controls (Hi & Lo) and variable crossover adjustment in 24 musically correct semi-tone increments between 22Hz-106Hz and you have the abilty to match up with any main speaker. The REL engineers did not stop there. Most subs even at this level use modular plate amplfiers with switching power supplies, sometimes called digital amplifiers, that make lots of Watts on paper. If you remove the amp panel on the Studio III you will see a massive Audiophile Grade toroidal transformer at the heart of the power supply, and all the other premium parts you would see in stand alone high end amplifier. So the REL team went old school using a True 500 Watt (continuous) discrete, direct-coupled MOSFET amplifier with very high current delivery - this no doubt contributes to the massive dynamics while remaining articulate. The cabinet is also built using 30mm MDF and uses REL's patented Super ARM loading. The final area in which REL separates its design from the rest of the pack of Flagship subs that typically use 12, 15 and even 18 inch drivers - The Studio III uses Two specially designed 10 inch VOLT drivers. By using the dual 10" drivers configuration REL is able to get dynamics while still retaining the speed of a smaller driver - this no doubt contributes to this subs ability to remain articulate even on the lowest bass notes.
